19 Jun Where to Workout in CDO: The Best Gyms and Fitness Centers that Can Help You Get That Sexy Body You’ve Always Dreamed Of
We all know the basic lesson from our elementary days about exercising. It keeps us healthy, and basically if you’re a bit on the overweight side it’s a way to lose weight. Because of this, even in Cagayan de Oro, there have been a number of fitness gyms and centers that have proliferated all over the city.
In truth, these centers have a great purpose especially for people who have no time to exercise at home because of their busy work and family schedules. It’s much easier sometimes to exercise after work or during the weekends. Also, limited home space with many professionals is another factor in the rise of membership in gyms and fitness centers. So here we go, and we hope this review will be useful in your search for a fitness gym near where you work or where you reside.
Fit Republic
This is one of the newest fitness centers in the city ever since the Lifestyle District on Corrales Avenue opened for business.
Fit Republic can be found on the second floor. It has a different daily schedule that offers spin cycles, aero dance, yoga, rip 60 training, zumba, indoor and outdoor circuit training, and other exercise fitness programs. Fit Republic can boast of being the official fitness center for the Mutya ng Pilipinas-Northern Mindanao and Miss Kagayha-an 2015.
They offer big discounts if you take in 3 months in advance (P4,500), 6 months (8,100), and 1 year (13,500). They also have all-in school rates for 21 and under members at only P999. Average monthly rates are usually at P1,500. They are considered to have the best gym equipment in the city and the area is kept squeaky clean. They’re open from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Open from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and located at the corner of Tomas Saco Street and 6th Street in Nazareth.

Normal membership fee is P800 but on certain months they waive the fee to promote their Plyometrics and Boxing classes that come at P1,750 and P950 respectively per month. CGY also offers Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, recovery yoga, zumba, sexy dancing, and other fitness and rip programs.

They also have family boxing or kid’s boxing at P2,000 for 20 sessions consumable in 2 months. A 2-month regular 24 sessions is P1,350. 2 months unlimited boxing is at P1,999. A 2-month session for Muay Thai is P1,450. HIIT for 24 sessions is at P1,799. This summer also saw the opening of their new sessions for Aikujutsu. They are open from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

One of the oldest and probably more well-known fitness gyms in the city, Axis is generally known as a muscle building fitness gym. They did close back in 2011 but reopened in 2012. They are so far the only fitness gym in the city that offers a guaranteed 50 percent discount if you pay for a full year membership.
Today, the gym is more than just for muscle building as they now offer aerobics, modern dance, mixed dance, cardioblast fat burning, Pilates, Karatedo, and Aikido.
They are located on the 4th floor of the GRC Building on Pres. Roxas Street. The new gym is now more spacious and with better and newer equipment. Its monthly fee is at P1,150. They are open from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

The inside and ambiance is different from other gyms as it is meant to relay a relaxed and minimalistic atmosphere rather than the usual traditional gyms. The gym is equipped with the latest and advanced fitness machines for both strength training (muscle building) and cardiovascular workouts. They offer dance classes, aerobics, yoga, and Pilates. They even have a spa and sauna for after workout recovery.
