21 Dec Woman Hurt in Macanhan Fire, 154 Individuals Left Homeless
35 houses were ruined as a fire ignited in an unknown source at Barangay Macanhan, Cagayan de Oro City.
According to a report from Sun.Star, a woman was wounded during the fire which happened on December 20, Tuesday morning. And 154 individuals were left homeless.
The wounded woman was identified by the fire investigators as Honey Sabal, she suffered burns on her legs and feet as she tried to rescue her trapped dog.
The investigators are still inspecting the root of the fire, said Fire Investigator Imelda Barazan, of the City Fire Department.
The fire ignited at past 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the said place but fire department quickly responded and prevented the fire at 11:00 a.m.
The houses in the said village are so close to each other which prompted the fire to spread rapidly and that 35 houses were destroyed. The houses were constructed in mixed light and concrete materials, Barazan said, adding that the damage cost is estimated would be around P1 million.
The victims are now staying in an evacuation center at a public school at Barangay Carmen.
