31 Jan A Woman was arrested for trying to smuggle shabu at MisOr Jail
Two sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or commonly known as “shabu” were found in a kilo of pork in Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail (MOPJ).
According to a report from Sun.Star, a 33-year-old woman attempts to smuggle the shabu inside the jail on January 29, Sunday afternoon.
The suspect was identified by MOPJ warden Dominador Tagarda as Vicenta Torres from Barangay Macabalan, Cagayan de Oro City.
Tagarda said that drug syndicates will have a hard time trying to smuggle illegal drugs into the jail as their guards are well-trained in intercepting contrabands.
The illegal drugs were supposed to be delivered to the two inmates detained in the said jail but was impeded by the two jail guards namely, Dante Estrada and Michael Ybanez. The inmates were identified as Loloy and Jboy Bahian who were detained for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The jail guards were explaining to Torres that according to the rule, visitors are not allowed to deliver goods during weekends and workdays beyond 3 p.m. But the jail guards still accepted the goods out of pity, said Tagarda.
Tagarda added that Torres is legally liable for possession of illegal drugs and is currently detained at Maharlika detention cell while the two inmates will be isolated.
