UPDATE: Police Clarifies That Alleged Taxi Kidnapping In CDO Was Just A “Miscommunication”
——————–
Mga higala! Two (2) women thankfully escaped an alleged “kidnapping” attempt of a suspicious taxi driver yesterday, May 19, 2021, here in Cagayan de Oro City!
According to a post by J**** G****, the said women were his wife and her friend. Here’s what supposedly happened:
At around 5:00 pm, her wife went to buy groceries at Gaisano Bulua where she also met with a female friend who was slightly intoxicated.
After shopping and a bit of catching up, they decided to finally go home to Brgy. Iponan and hailed a taxi just outside the said mall.
While in the taxi, his wife’s friend dozed off while she noticed that the male taxi driver was taking an opposite route.
She asked the driver why but he remained silent. After repeatedly asking the same question her wife got furious and banged on the taxi’s window. This is when the driver finally opened his mouth and said “Pagpuyo diha ihulog taka karon!” (Sit tight [or behave] or I’ll throw you off this vehicle!).
This is when J****’s wife got really scared and called him on his smartphone. After receiving her call and grasping the situation he told her wife to take a picture of the taxi number on the taxi’s window and assured her that he would go to where they are.
After the call, his wife repeatedly tried to hit the driver due to panic. Thankfully, after passing a certain landmark, the driver finally stopped his taxi.
This gave the wife the opportunity to get off while also pulling her friend out of the vehicle.
J**** then arrived after a while and found her wife trembling while crying.
They then reported the incident to the police.
(Sources and names have been redacted as a safety precaution. The taxi’s photos have also been removed by the original poster.)
