17 May XU, DOH conduct community-based illegal drug relapse prevention program
In an article from Philippine Information Agency (PIA), a community-based relapse prevention program-“Katatagan Kontra Droga sa Kommunidad” was conducted by a group of psychologists, psychometricians and social workers from the treatment and rehabilitation division of Department of Health together with Xavier University (XU) Psychology Department for three-day facilitators’ training last May 15, 2107.
The activity aims to train community facilitators that will handle 12 individual modules and 3 family and community modules that will educate drug users who surrender, to teach them the important coping skills and support to prevent fall back on illegal drug use.
The program was based on the intention of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) to create an interference program that is research base and evidence based to address the urgent need to relieve the increasing number of the drug’s users surrendered.
There were forty participants who were trained, they came from the municipality of Manolo Fortich under the LGU- Manolo Fortich Ministerial Association last April 26, 2017, at Manigma Heroes Hall in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
This activity was supported by Mayor Clive D. Quiño, a graduate of Master of Arts Public Administration of XU’s Graduate School.
Those facilitators who completed the training will be mobilized to manage low to mild risk drug users surrendered, who were identified by their local government.
